Plan your Visit

Founded on the principle that art engenders social progress, the biennial and all related events will be free and open to the public.*

The biennial will be open to the public from October 25, 2014 to January 25, 2015 Wednesdays through Sundays, 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., and will be closed on the following holidays:

  • Wednesday and Thursday, December 24-25, 2014 (Christmas Eve and Christmas Day)
  • Wednesday, December 31, 2014 (New Year’s Eve)
  • Thursday, January 1, 2015 (New Year's Day)

*General admission may apply at certain participating venues. Please note that Louisiana Residents are offered free admission to the New Orleans Museum of Art on Wednesdays, the Ogden Museum of Southern Art on Thursdays, courtesy the Helis Foundation, and the CAC on Sundays courtesy of The Helis Foundation, The Hearst Foundations, and the City of New Orleans | Edward Wisner Donation.

Special Closures and Viewing Situations

The Ogden Museum of Southern Art/Basquiat and the Bayou Presented by The Helis Foundation: Due to space limitations Basquiat and the Bayou Presented by The Helis Foundation will be on view via timed ticketing. Please reserve your viewing time by registering with the museum upon arrival. While waiting to see the Basquiat exhibit, you will be able to visit the other P.3 exhibits on view, including works by Chandra McCormick, Keith Calhoun and Herbert Singleton.

Tavares Strachan’s sculpture You belong here
: You belong here is located on a barge in the Mississippi River and will only be visible at dusk or evenings. It is best viewed from the Moon Walk, directly opposite the St. Louis Cathedral (from the Moon Walk the sculpture is situated to the left, on a barge docked at the Esplanade Street Wharf.) or from directly across the river at Algiers Point–from any area near the ferry terminal. Please note that the sculpture will be traveling up and down the Mississippi from October 23-26, and may not be visible from these locations during this time period. If you wish to view the barge during Opening Festivities, plan to attend the viewing from the Art House on the Levee, 4725 Dauphine Street, from 8-10pm on Saturday, October 25. 

Longue Vue House and Gardens: Tours will be offered  hourly from 11am-4pm Wednesday-Saturday and from 1pm-4pm on Sunday. Upon arrival, please check in at the ticket office. Additional hours available on select Sundays by appointment. For more information, please call (504) 488-5488.

AIA: Mary Ellen Carroll's exhibit will be closed to the public December 3 & 4

 

The New Orleans African American Museum: Zarouhie Abdalian's exhibition is an outdoor installation and will be closed to the public during inclement weather.

 

Holiday Hours

If traveling to New Orleans for Prospect.3 during the holidays please consider that the following have additional closures. Book your travel so as to ensure the opportunity to experience the biennial in totality. Daily information regarding open and closed venues will be posted on Prospect.3 website calendar.
