Prospect New Orleans Executive Director Brooke Davis Anderson to Step Down

NEW ORLEANS, La. - March 16, 2017Prospect New Orleans announced today that Executive Director Brooke Davis Anderson will leave her post at the end of the month after four years of leading the organization that produces the Prospect triennial. Deputy Director for Curatorial Affairs Ylva Rouse will serve as interim director while a search committee formed by the board of directors seeks Anderson’s permanent replacement to head the New Orleans-based organization. Rouse, a New Orleans native, has served on the curatorial team of Prospect since its inception in April of 2007. Prior to her tenure at Prospect, Rouse served as Director of the Javier Lopez Gallery Artspace in Madrid, Spain and as an Exhibitions Curator at the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofia.

“Prospect New Orleans continues to grow into one of the most important contemporary art exhibitions in the United States,” said Prospect New Orleans Board President Susan Brennan. “We are grateful to Brooke for her dedication to that shared vision and we wish her the best of luck in her new role. Ylva Rouse has been an unparalleled asset to Prospect since its inception and we know she will manage a seamless transition of leadership as we continue the important work of producing the international triennial that opens in November.”

The last edition of Prospect New Orleans’ triennial, Prospect.3: Notes for Now, was a critical and popular success, engaging over 100,000 visitors and ending its thirteen-week run with a budgetary surplus. After Prospect.3 the organization transitioned from a biennial to triennial schedule and added six new Board members in New Orleans and New York City. Prospect.4: The Lotus in Spite of the Swamp will open this November in New Orleans. Participating artists selected by Artistic Director Trevor Schoonmaker from a global survey of more than twenty-five countries will be announced this May.

"What an extraordinary opportunity it has been to lead Prospect New Orleans for the last four years,” said Brooke Davis Anderson. “I have given all of my time and energy to PNO and what I will cherish most about this fulfilling and gratifying experience, are the relationships with our devoted board, hardworking staff, countless partners, and numerous supporters in the singular city of New Orleans and beyond."
