Prospect New Orleans has announced the hiring of New Orleans-based strategic marketing firm Deveney Communication as the agency of record for Prospect.3. Prospect’s leadership team hosted a competitive national selection process, allowing them to consider many finalists. The team’s final decision to hire Deveney Communication was unanimous. “We are so excited that Deveney Communication will serve as both our boots on the ground in New Orleans and our voice in the international art press. From working one-on-one with visiting media, to utilizing their knowledge of the local market to shape stories, we are confidant their capabilities coupled with our staff will help us reach our aggressive goals for Prospect.3 and beyond,” said Brooke Davis Anderson, Executive Director of Prospect New Orleans. “The team encompasses all of the characteristics we were looking for in an agency: experience, a proven track record, innovation, excitement and a fresh perspective to move New Orleans to the forefront of the international arts community.”

Prospect.3, the third edition of New Orleans contemporary art event will open Fall 2014. Franklin Sirmans has been selected to curate Prospect.3. Among the themes Sirmans plans to explore are topics that have ties to the contemporary art scene in New Orleans. Additionally, in recognition of the burgeoning film industry in New Orleans, Sirmans plans to invite artists who incorporate film and video prominently in their work.

Deveney Communication, with the full resources of its Worldcom Public Relations Group partnership, is charged with creating aggressive strategies to meet these goals. The agency will also serve as an extension of the Prospect.3 team.

Deveney Communication will use its inherent knowledge of the market to leverage local, regional, national and international media relationships and to promote New Orleans as a top leisure travel destination for contemporary art admirers. The company has also had national media success working with industry leaders such as New Orleans Convention and Visitors Bureau, The Louisiana Office of Tourism, Ruth’s Chris Steak House, New Orleans Museum of Art (NOMA), Windsor Court Hotel, The Audubon Institute and The Howard Hughes Corporation.

On January 25th Prospect.us launched at the Other Bar with a live performance by The Little Things. Prospect.us is a Prospect.3 membership group that will facilitate an appreciation for contemporary art within the city’s young professional community through networking opportunities. “Prospect.us is the perfect group for anyone who is interested in supporting contemporary art, but does not know where to start,” said Brooke Davis Anderson, Executive Director of Prospect New Orleans.

Prospect.us members will enjoy a wide range of activities, including volunteer opportunities; behind the scenes tours; visits to artist studios; private collections; galleries; and curatorial walkthroughs. In the spirit of inclusion and fellowship, Prospect.us membership is free.

Prospect.us membership, programs and events will be coordinated by the Prospect.us Leadership Committee. The following individuals have been elected to serve for the 2014-2015 term - Kristen Brennan (co-chair), Carrie Knopf (co-chair), Marianna Barry, Rachel Gorman, Michael Leikin, Justin Shiels, and Ann Marshall Thomas.
